GROW

Project Overview

The Glyphosate Research of forest Organisms and Wildlife health (GROW) project is a comprehensive research initiative that aims to investigate the effects of glyphosate-based herbicides (GBH) on forest ecosystems and wildlife in Canada.

Glyphosate, a widely used herbicide, is applied extensively in forestry practices to control unwanted vegetation. However, there is growing concern about its potential impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Our research focuses on understanding the persistence of glyphosate residues in forest environments and their effects on gut microbiomes, environmental microbes, and hormone levels in wildlife.

By collaborating with the Swan River First Nation, the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation, the British Columbia Wildlife Federation, and the British Columbia and Alberta Trappers Associations, we aim to generate valuable insights that will inform sustainable forest management practices and policy development.
